i’ve always known that the biggest robbery black people have endured wasn’t slavery
it wasn’t when they hosed humans / not when they whipped humans
not when they ripped human families apart / not when they blocked, brainwashed, branded humans
not when they captured, crippled, & castrated humans / dehumanized, drugged, defiled humans.
dreams.
the silver and gold of our minds is so precious and they know it. the light and shine in a child’s eye is the link between us and god
and they stole it.
this is the kind of vol that passes over our heads
we don’t see it.
name a street corner after a man who can’t dream and see what kind of nothingness it brings. paint asphalt in the letters of #injustice and see how the fruit come out dried. put a human being in the oval office and see him fail to correct 400 years of—
this isn’t a guide / this isn’t a proper response
this will never be enough. / dreams is where to begin. ✶
